THIS CHALLENGE IS NOW CLOSED, CONGRATULATIONS TO “Tyler P.” FOR HIS WINNING ENTRY–A COMBINATION SANDWICH-BOOK SHOP: “The Erudite Appetite.”
The Mixed Bag Challenge: a new question each week for the 15 weeks leading up to the Festival. Prizes include a bag for the best each week, and a raffle chance at Festival event tickets for each entry. Congrats to last week’s winner–Ida Swenson–whose spot to read seemed like a work of fiction in itself.
Isn’t it a fantasy to own your own bookstore? This week’s challenge: 8. What would you call your own bookstore?
Deadline: Jan. 28, Noon. New challenge then.

If I had a general bookstore, I’d call it “Chapter and Verse”.
If I had a children’s bookstore, I’d call it “Wonderland”. What a great thing for parents to be able to say to their kids “If you’re a good boy/girl, this morning, I’ll take you to ‘Wonderland’ this afternoon”.

If I had a bookstore, it would have a gourmet sandwich section so I could name it “The Erudite Appetite”. I suppose this would also be great for a cookbook shop!

My bookstore would be called “Rest”–as in “I need some Rest today”.

Kevin here–why not a combination brewery and bookstore? “Brews and Browse.”
The dry-wet mix of course will offend some bookies, so a strict code of conduct to keep those pages unharmed. “You spill it, we bill it.”

Kevin, I love the idea for “Brews and Browse”!
If I owned a bookstore it’d be used books and I’d call it “Black & White & Read All Over”
